Welcome To Strawberry Creek Lodge! Strawberry Creek Lodge was built in 1962 for the purpose of providing adequate housing for lower to middle income senior citizens in Berkeley. The Lodge consists of 150 apartments, 20 one-bedroom apartments and 130 studio apartments. All apartments come with full bathrooms and kitchens. There are also several community rooms including a well-stocked library, a game room, and even a small movie theater in the “B” building. We also have an art room where our resident artists gather to work and a computer room with Internet access. One thing we hear a lot at Strawberry Creek is how different the mood is here. The entrance lobby is a lively, active place where many of the residents gather. Here at Strawberry Creek Lodge we are very proud of our sense of community. We have a very active Tenant Association and multiple committees that our residents can serve on. In fact, all the community rooms mentioned above are run by resident committees. We have put a lot of effort into maintaining an excellent meals program ensuring that evening meals is another time when the residents gather together. The meals program is voluntary and available for a monthly fee. The Lodge is a not-for-profit complex, owned by Strawberry Creek Lodge Foundation, a community based organization governed by a volunteer board of Trustees. California Community Housing (CCH), an organization dedicated to providing affordable housing to senior citizens, manages the Lodge. |
